However, they dislike the high pricing, scalability issues, data quality inconsistencies, and challenges with setup, maintenance, and compliance.

Expert Opinion

Expert Rating(4.5/5)

I recently tested Clay, a go‑to‑market data and automation platform, and I believe it is a strong fit for modern sales and marketing teams that live inside their CRM and outreach tools. Clay stands out for its ability to pull and enrich data from 100+ sources, then plug it straight into your existing stack via deep integrations with tools like Salesforce, HubSpot, Outreach, and more. During my hands‑on time, I found the interface clean and intuitive, especially the spreadsheet‑style workspace that makes it easy to build, segment, and enrich prospect lists without writing code.
One of the best parts is the AI‑driven enrichment and formulas. With simple instructions, Clay generates custom logic and automations that enrich and score leads based on criteria like company size, intent signals, or role changes. I also appreciated how smoothly it syncs with CRMs and outbound tools, so enriched segments feed directly into campaigns rather than sitting in isolated spreadsheets.
The main downside I noticed is that pricing can feel steep for smaller teams or very simple use cases, and it is not a full‑suite CRM or sales engagement tool, so you still need your core stack. If you already have a CRM and outreach toolset and want to level up data quality and personalization, Clay is a powerful, flexible layer that can save a lot of manual research and cleaning work.
