Marketing operations platform Simple has appointed former Bauer Media chief information officer Simon Wheeler as chief technology officer. The appointment come as Simple expands its product development resources through a partnership with Australian technology solutions consultancy Barhead Solutions.

Wheeler, who joins from Brennan IT and is a former director at Oakton, will head up technology as well as leading product development for Simple’s marketing operations platform in close consultation with Simple’s blue-chip customer base.

“The job at hand is about ensuring we’re taking the product to the next level so we can continue to exceed customer expectations and shape the new, reinvented Marketing Resource Management software category,” Wheeler said.

“Joining Simple, it’s clear there is strong demand for the product from marketing teams who are looking for better ways to organise themselves so they can be more efficient,” he said.

“We are prioritising how we meet those needs so we can continue to grow the market.”

Simple CEO Aden Forrest said the marketing operations platform opted to extend its existing product development capacity so it could ramp up its product release schedule for planned new product features in coming months.

“Simple relocated its product development team to Sydney this year, and we are working closely with Barhead to enable us to accelerate our product release schedule throughout that process and beyond,” Forrest said.

Barhead Partnership

Barhead specialises in cloud-based business solutions centered around client relationship management, project management and employee management. Earlier this year, Barhead was named Microsoft’s Dynamics 365 APAC independent software vendor partner of the year for 2017.

“We are excited to be working with Simon and his team to further extend the Simple marketing operations platform for some of Australia’s leading brands,” Barhead general manager Ken Struthers said.

“Simple’s customer-centric approach aligns well with Barhead’s innovative development approach, driving faster release cycles and increased customer satisfaction,” he said.

Simple is used by more than 2000 marketers and hundreds of agencies internationally for brands including Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Westpac, BT and Tabcorp, among others.
