Salesforce executive Rob Thorne has been appointed Vice President APAC for MuleSoft, while former VP for APAC Will Bosma has been named VP of Japan.

Thorne joined Salesforce through the ExactTarget acquisition in 2013 and over the course of his over eight-year tenure has steadily risen through the ranks. Most recently he was the regional head of Asia Pacific for five years.

Thorne is among one of the first Salesforce executives to join MuleSoft since it was acquired by the cloud-based software giant for US$6.5 billion in March 2018.

Since the acquisition MuleSoft has been run as an independent business unit within Salesforce.

In this new role, Thorne is charged with driving MuleSoft’s continued growth across the Asia-Pacific region, as well as connecting the Salesforce and MuleSoft channels to open up further channel opportunities across the region.

Muesoft’s local customers include Deakin University, BaptistCare, Boral, EnergyAustralia, Lane Crawford, New South Wales Department of Family and Community Services (FaCS), REA Group, Ricoh Australia, Service New South Wales, Tic:Toc, iSelect, IP Australia, QBE Group Services, MLC Limited, Bank of New Zealand and Village Roadshow.

MuleSoft’s Anypoint Platform enables customers to build a seamless application network of applications, data and devices through API-­led connectivity, whether in the cloud, on­-premises, or hybrid.

The company’s partner ecosystem provides the company with significant synergies including lead generation, new customer acquisition, accelerated deployment, and customer support. Current MuleSoft partners include Accenture, Agile Digital, Capgemini, Datacom, Deloitte Digital, Infront, Leidos, NEC, Surround Australia and Veritec.
