Pernod Ricard Winemakers, owner of local brands Jacob’s Creek and St Hugo, has tapped an AI software company to dynamically predict yield, quality and timing of grape harvest across Australia and New Zealand.
Under an expansion of its partnership with Trellis, a food system intelligence provider that uses artificial intelligence to optimise supply chains, the wine maker expects to improve its harvests and procurement costs.

The Trellis platform combines various supply chain data sources throughout the food and beverage supply chain to predict quality, yield, timing of harvest and associated expenses to optimize unit cost and resources across the entire agrifood value chain.
“We were impressed by Trellis’s expertise in the industry and proven ability to scale across complex business units and multiple geographies,” said Alex Kahl, who is leading the project and the optimization of technology across operations for Pernod Ricard Winemakers.

With Trellis, the Pernod Ricard Winemakers team expects to strengthen the resilience of its complex supply chain and maximize the profitability of its operations by empowering data-driven decisions at strategic points in the growing season and harvesting cycle.
