Online retailer, Catch Group, has announced the launch of its own energy service, Catch Energy, which will offer energy and gas plans in partnership with 1st Energy. Catch says the new service is in response to an energy market with rising prices and a lack of competition.

Rates will be “competitively priced” and Catch will offer bonus shopping vouchers called ‘CatchBack’ vouchers. Catch Energy will launch next month and will initially be offered to customers in Victoria, NSW and South East Queensland.

Catch has now expanded from its core online retail business into energy, prepaid mobile plans and personal loans.

According to the company, the move comes at a time when households are experiencing rising utility bills as gas and electricity costs continue to skyrocket. The company said between 2007-08 and 2017-18, residential consumers have faced a real increase of 35 per cent in their bills and a price increase of around 56 per cent, which the ACCC has attributed, in part, to a lack of competition in the energy market.

Catch says its energy offering is all about value, transparency and giving consumers a fair go. The product has no late fees disguised as discounts, no credit card payment fees and always low rates with no surprises.

CEO of Catch Group, Nati Harpaz said the company is looking forward to taking aim at the major energy retailers and helping Australians get the best possible deal on their utility bills over the long term.

“Catch is a trusted brand that has built its reputation offering great value to consumers. We know household budgets are under pressure and with the launch of Catch Energy we are leveraging our strength to help Australians enjoy better value on this key essential service, with added CatchBack vouchers they can spend on to ease cost of living pressures. We are thrilled to be partnering with 1st Energy to bring this offer to the market,” said Harpaz.

1st Energy CEO Adam Landry commented: “We are proud to partner with such a strong and trusted brand. Catch’s commitment to offering consumers a better deal and great value is directly aligned with our philosophy at 1st Energy. We are looking forward to working together.”

Customers can register their interest to find out more about Catch’s Great Australian Energy Deal. Those that register their interest before 30th of April and then sign up will receive $100 CatchBack – to spend at

The new service will be available for electricity customers in Victoria, NSW and South East Queensland in April 2019, as well as gas customers in Victoria from May 2019.
