Digital decarbonisation, according to french IT consulting company, Atos, is critical to reducing global carbon emissions. 

According to Philippe Mareine, Chief Digital & Transformation Officer and Head of CSR at Atos, 80 per cent of Atos customers have taken on decarbonisation objectives including carbon neutrality and net zero targets. The company sees digital playing an important role in decreasing emissions, especially as the economy of data trends exponentially upwards. 

Mareine says that digital is responsible for 4 per cent of the world’s global carbon emissions however, when harnessed appropriately, has the potential to decrease global emissions by 15 to 20 per cent.
