Marketing automation provider Marketo has suffered its second major outage in four months. The company’s services went down for several hours yesterday. According to Marketo CEO Steve Lucas “firewall issues from of one of our datacenters was [the] root cause.”
“We knew the moment the network and firewall issue arose, began the recovery process immediately and have the resolution nearly complete. Apologies for the disruption,” Lucas tweeted.
According to the company, a root cause analysis is underway.
The outage caused headaches for US marketers, who are preparing for the weekend of sales activity following the Thanksgiving holiday tomorrow.
It’s the second major outage the company has suffered this year, although it is unrelated to the first. In July the Marketo’s website went down after the company failed to renew its domain. A customer and domain expert spotted the error and renewed the domain for the company.
Update on the availability issue for some of our customers serviced from our Ashburn datacenter. We knew the moment the network & firewall issue arose, began the recovery process immediately and have the resolution nearly complete. Apologies for the disruption.
