Cognizant has appointed Brian Humphries as chief executive officer succeeding company co-founder Francisco D’Souza, effective April 1, 2019.

Humphries joins Cognizant from Vodafone Business, where as chief executive he led the division that accounted for nearly a third of the Vodafone Group’s service revenue with approximately €12 billion in sales globally.

Before Vodafone, Humphries, a technology veteran with a global perspective and broad range of experience, held leadership positions at global technology leaders Dell and Hewlett-Packard.

Following Humphries’ appointment, Francisco D’Souza, who co-founded Cognizant and has served as chief executive since 2007, will serve as full-time executive vice chairman to facilitate the transition through June 30, 2019. After that, he will remain on the board as vice chairman.
