I recently tested WeTransfer, a popular platform for sharing large files, and found it to be a generally effective but somewhat limited service. Here's my experience,

WeTransfer is incredibly simple to use. The platform allows you to send files up to 2GB for free, without even needing an account. This makes it ideal for users who want a quick, no-fuss way to transfer files without dealing with complicated setups. The drag-and-drop interface is intuitive, and the process of uploading and sharing files via email or link is smooth and fast. For larger projects, the paid version (WeTransfer Pro) offers up to 200GB of storage and additional features like password protection and customizable backgrounds.

However, there are some drawbacks that prevent WeTransfer from being a perfect solution. One major limitation is that files sent with the free version expire after seven days, which can be inconvenient if your recipient doesn't download them in time. Additionally, there’s no option to track downloads or recover expired files in the free tier. While the platform works well for smaller files, I did experience occasional slowdowns when uploading larger video files, especially with weaker internet connections. Uploads sometimes failed or froze midway through, requiring me to restart the process.

Another downside is the lack of live customer support. WeTransfer only offers support via written requests, which can take a few hours to receive a response. While their help articles are useful, it’s frustrating not to have immediate assistance when something goes wrong.

In terms of security, WeTransfer does offer encryption for file transfers, but the free version lacks password protection for shared links, which could be a concern for sensitive data.

If you're looking for a simple file-sharing tool with minimal setup, WeTransfer gets the job done efficiently. But for more robust features or long-term file storage needs, you might want to explore alternatives like Google Drive or Dropbox.
